HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation is one of the biggest implementers for development cooperation inSwitzerland. The projects are implemented in rural areas and focus on rural infrastructures, agriculture and markets (organic farming and fair trade), environment and climate as well as democracy and peace building.

Approximately 1200 people in more than 30 partner countries are employed to engage in poverty alleviation in Africa, Asia, South America andEastern Europe.

Since 2002 HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation has established projects for the production of organic and fair trade cotton inBurkina Faso,Mali,Benin,KyrgyzstanandTajikistan. Besides training and extension of farmers also partners within the value chain are supported with technical advice and in aspects of certification.
