Martina Meixner founded her label maronski in 2006. She works and lives in Vienna, where she designs two collections per year.
The idea of maronski is to create outfits for female heroes. The label´s name “maronski” is derived from “Maroons” – a group of African slaves in Jamaica who have fought under the female leadership of Granny Nanny during the 18th century for their rights. Granny Nanny became therefore an important figure of resistance.
Corresponding to this story, maronski style stands for effortless, colourful, autonomous fashion full of vitality for exceptional women.
All designs are made of organic cotton or bamboo. They are fabricated in a Slovakian studio.
